12 Days of Christmas Cookies: Oreo Truffles

I am so sorry that I’ve fallen behind!  I managed to catch the cold that has been going around the hospital and been feeling like death warmed over for the past few days.  So of course I haven’t felt like baking.  But tonight I’m headed to a Christmas shower for one of my friends and I was charged with bringing a dessert.

These Oreo truffles are perfect for a party.  They are super simple to make, look super cute, taste good, and are bite-sized.  All requirements for a party, in my opinion.  The fact that they only require 4 ingredients is just icing on the cake (or the truffle! haha I’m so funny.)  I’m not even sure if this actually counts as a recipe.

Oreo Truffles
Makes 36

1 package plain Oreos
1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
6-8 oz white almond bark
Sprinkles or various other toppings

Put the entire package of Oreos into a plastic bag and seal.  Use a mallet or a roll pin to finely crust the Oreos.  Make sure there are no big cookie pieces remaining.

Beat the softened cream cheese until creamy.  Use a rubber spatula to stir in the Oreo crumbs.  Mix until very well combined.  Chill for 30 minutes.

Remove from refrigerator and shape into 36 balls; they should about the size of a large gum ball.  Chill the truffles (I actually froze mine) for another 20-30 minutes or until solid.  Meanwhile, melt the white almond bark according to the package directions.

Dip the chilled truffles, one at a time, into the melted chocolate.  Make sure to evenly coat all the sides!  Set on a wax paper-covered tray and sprinkle with sprinkles or decorate as desired.  Chill until ready to serve.  Keep leftovers refrigerated.
